Our apprenticeship programme

The Jamie Oliver Apprenticeship Scheme allows you to earn a government recognised qualification whilst working as an integral part of the team in one of our restaurants...and earning a wage! You won't need to spend time in a classroom at college as everything is taught in our kitchens so that you learn on the job. Our training is delivered to a world class standard whilst you complete your normal day-to-day duties. You will have a dedicated Training Assessor who will come and visit you in-site whilst you work, and you'll be mentored by one of our skilled Management Team. Our scheme is designed to create a clear career pathway and a genuine opportunity for progression within the hospitality industry. YOUR TRAINING JOURNEY​ - SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS!
Induction
Every new addition to our family has an Induction on their first day. ​ You will spend the day finding out what we're are all about as a company, trying our fantastic food ​and how your Journey with Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group begins. You will be given all the tools to set you up for success.
Grassroots
Grass Roots is the structured training programme for all new front and back of house team members in our restaurants. It is a 4 week training programme which includes one on one training, tastings and testing on knowledge, skills and culture. Progress is monitored through a workbook which must be fully completed within 4 weeks which can then be signed off at their 1 month check in. This is also the programme used to train existing team members moving departments/sections or those that need cross training.
3 Month Review
After 3 months in your new role, you’ll have a probationary review which will be a great opportunity to discuss how you’ve settled into your new role.
The Jamie Oliver Academy
Every external manager and senior chef coming into our family must complete their JO Academy training programme before they begin to manage their business and teams. The timescale and content varies according to the trainee’s role and previous experience, but all will include a structured combination of department/section training and management training. Our dedicated Academy Managers will ensure they have everything they need before signing them off from the Academy and include an aftercare check in to ensure they are continuing with their learning once on site. The Academy is also the stepping stone for Supervisors and Service Chefs moving into full time management roles.

Sky High Scholarships​
Exclusive to the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group, the Sky High ​Scholarships offer ​high potential leaders a bespoke development plan designed to stretch their capability. ​ The​ aim is to invest in​to​ a selection of high performing GMs who have bags of potential to grow into an Ops role and help them achieve their dreams!

Educational Trips
We’re fearsomely proud of the provenance of all our the produce we use here at Jamie’s and we work with our suppliers to give the opportunity to all our family members to enjoy learning about them.
We offer throughout the year some amazing educational trips up and down the country (and out of the country!) to visit suppliers such as the amazing team down in Brixham who catch us our fish everyday to the picturesque Castle Cary to Tom Calver’s farm who shows us how he makes us our Westcombe Cheese.
All of these trips are designed to keep us in touch with our products roots and give up a passion for the amazing dishes we serve everyday.
Appraisals
To help you along your development journey, you will get a 6 monthly appraisal. Or as they’re known at Jamie’s, a Love Feedback Review! This will be an inspiring session with your line manager where you can get some valuable feedback about your strengths and development areas, as well as agreeing some objectives to help you build your expereince. It’s also a great opportunity to discuss your ambitions for the future and get an exciting development plan in place.
